When I watched it, I saw that I needed to work on phrasing. My violin teacher doesn't talk about phrasing but I know about it because of my piano and guitar classes. She doesn't come to my recitals, so I'm waiting to see what she says about the recording. I think I played good but I'll see what she says.
Josh is a young Jamaican-Canadian and this blog is about his music & travel adventures and anything that takes his interest. He sings bass, and studies organ, piano, violin & viola. (This blog was last updated in April 2019, and will no longer updated in the future.)

Minuets on Violin and Piano
I re-did my recording of Minuet 2 because my teacher wanted me to work some more on the rhythm. Here is how it turned out.
I also recorded Minuet 3. It's the same minuet that I did on piano by Christian Petzold.
I tried playing the violin to ME playing the piano, but I realized that it's too fast. I found that funny!
Here is the recording of me playing Minuet 3 on the violin.

Piano Competition in France
In less than 2 weeks I am going to France for a piano competition. My duet partner and I are finalists! We're going to go on a plane together! My piano teacher is going with us. I love my piano teacher. She's strict but sweet. She's like a Grandmother to me.
It's my first time going to Europe and it will be my first time at an International piano competition. I'm so excited! My Mom said we're already winners because we made it to the finals. She's so proud of me. :-)
I plan to blog about my trip to France when I'm there, if I have access to the internet. If I don't have internet access there, I'll blog about it when I get back.
I want to eat crepes and have baguettes there. I want to visit the Eiffel tower, the Notre Dame Cathedral & go to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa. I really want to visit Chopin's grave too. I hope there'll be enough time.

My Grade 3 piano exam
I had my grade 3 piano exam today. It was good. I got to show off for the examiner. :-)
I did 2 songs for the studies and 3 songs for the repertoire.
Here is a video of me practicing "Funny Puppy"by Anne Crosby.
My favourite part of the exam is identifying the intervals. Some intervals are happy and some are sad. Minor 2nds make me feel sick and perfect 5ths make me feel good.
I had fun!

Grade 3 Piano Exam Tomorrow
Hi,
I have my grade 3 piano exam tomorrow. I am excited and a little bit nervous about it. I know all of my scales and I'm ready for my ear test and the songs! I have never been to this examination centre before. It's the first time I'll be doing an exam outside RCM's Telus Centre. I hope it will be nice there.
Here is a picture of me and a statue of Glenn Gould. My Dad took it last year. I hope that one day I'll be as good a musician.

This is one I taped yesterday. I really hope my teacher likes it.
Here is one of my favourites...

Welcome to my blog!
Hi, I'm Joshua.
This is my first post on my first blog.
I want to share two songs with you.
The first song is from the first time I won a trophy for a music competition.
I was 6 years old!
The second song is from the same competition. My group won 1st place!
Hope you like them!
