My Garden

Mom, Dad and I put in a garden this spring. It's our first time and we are learning a lot.
We planted berries, tomatoes, peppers, and lots of veggies.

Here is a picture of my first tomatoes. I can't wait for them to ripen.
We have a variety of tomatoes and we will see which ones we like best.

We are waiting for a few strawberries to ripen as well.
It turns out that berries need an acidic soil... and our soil is perfect for them.

The cucumber plant is starting to grow, but there are no blossoms yet.

We had lots of Gai Lan and Pac Choi, but we harvested and ate them before we thought to take any pictures. We planted them before the last frost and we covered them with a row cover. They grew well and they were delicious. They taste much better when they come from your own garden than from the supermarket.

So far, my favourite thing that we have been growing is Snow Peas!
They make a really good snack!

We have been having a few beet greens while we wait for the beetroots to get bigger, but we started noticing holes in the leaves.

We found some eggs a couple days ago....

So we put the leaf with the eggs in a container with air holes.

This morning we noticed that they hatched.
We still don't know what they are.
We put in more leaves... and we will keep watching them.

We need to find a natural pesticide. So far, we haven't used any pesticides at all... but we want one that will not hurt the pollinators or beneficial insects and one that won't hurt us.

We don't know what this bug is, but it looked interesting.

And, I think this might be a 'common red soldier beetle' but I'm not sure.

Grandma JD

You might have noticed that I started posting a lot of videos for my Grandma. A few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with brain cancer.

I love her.

She is in the hospital now.
There is a piano there, and we can both play it.

Here is a short video clip of my Grandma playing "All That I Am"

And here is a short video clip of us playing "The Beautiful Blue Danube" together.

Grandma is never happier than when she is playing the piano... I am like that too.
