John Cage's 4'33

John Cage really did write a silent piece. I found out about it from the Horrible Histories Big Prom Party.
It's so funny! The orchestra doesn't play. They sit there quietly.
The conductor gives the downbeat and he uses a clock to time it.
You can hear all the coughs and you can see all the people looking at the orchestra.

Here's a recording of it:

I did find out that tacet means "It is silent".

I wonder how many bars each movement is?
What key signature is it written in?
Does the orchestra have to rehearse it?

Here's what John Cage says about 'silence'

Day 7 - I found all of the Toronto Street Pianos!

I found the last of the Street Pianos!
It was the "Trinidad and Tobago" piano by Brian Wong at the CIBC at Yonge and Eglinton.

Afterwards, we went back to the OCAD piano. It was one of my favourites.
I enjoyed going all over Toronto and playing almost all of the Street Pianos. I liked performing for people all over and meeting lots of new people.
Thanks for reading my blog!

"Play Me I'm Yours" - Pianos across Toronto- Day 1

I'm so excited!
There are pianos all over Toronto!

They are going to have the Pan-Am games in Toronto in 2015 and they put pianos all around the city as part of the celebrations now.

They had artists from different countries decorate the pianos.

I spotted 2 of the pianos and I just had to play them.

The first one I spotted was outside the Royal Conservatory of Music.
It had "Belize" on it.

The second piano was right outside the Royal Ontario Museum.
It had "Bermuda" on it.

It was noisy outside but even strangers listened to me play.
Some people applauded!
It was fun!
