The British Transport Museum

The last place we visited while in the London area was The British Transport Museum.

Please forgive me if I make any mistakes and please feel free to send me a message if I have made any. I'll update this post with any corrected info.

The lower level of the museum

Streets were ripped out to put in the underground subway and then they rebuilt the street. This method is called "cut and cover."

Steam engines were used underground for the first forty years. The quality of air was really poor in the tunnels.

This was one of the first electric locomotives for the underground.

On the left is a multiple unit train (it had more than one motor) and on the right are two doubledecker buses.

It is called 'deep level' because it runs about 15 stories underground.

Toronto in 2017 isn't that much different.

St. Pancras and King's Cross Stations

King's Cross and St. Pancras Stations are right beside each other. They were built by competing railway companies. 

Most of these pictures are at St. Pancras Station. 

The high speed trains leave from St. Pancras and I wanted to see them. 

I even got to play the piano inside the station.

The Music Stores!

The highlight of my time in London was the time spent in the Music Stores. 

On Denmark Street there are about a dozen music stores!

There is an almost endless selection of music shops.

Foyles, is just around the corner from Denmark Street, and they have music for almost any instrument you can think of!
And, Dad got Mom books about Caribbean History too!

I had a great time looking through their selections of organ music. 

I bought so many new scores. I can't wait to try them all out.

We decided to spend our time doing some overall sightseeing instead of doing in-depth tours. We only had a very short time in London and I really wanted to spend some quality time in the music stores.
