Place de la Concorde has an Egyptian Obelisk in the centre of the square.
Before the French Revolution, Place de la Concorde was called Place Louis XV and there was a statue of the king on a horse there.
During the Revolution it was renamed Place de la Révolution and a guillotine was put in the square. This is where King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette and other aristocrats were executed.
