The Remains of the Bastille

We went to some of the places that were involved in the French Revolution.
We saw the remains of the Bastille.

It used to be a huge prison which had a large amount of gun-powder.

On July 14, 1789 after rioters got weapons from Les Invalides, they went to the Bastille.
200 people were killed or wounded storming the Bastille. The Governer gave the order to surrender after the rioters used the cannons from Les Invalides on the inner citadel of the Bastille.

The rebels were in command of Paris and the 14th of July would become a National Holiday in France.
